FRONT EXTERIOR
Copper gutters, cast stone arches, double retaining walls, teak fencing, custom iron railing, and sapele mahogany garage doors are just a few of the upgrades these homeowners chose to highlight the extensive stone work and lush landscaping of this sprawling West Lake estate.
ENTRANCE
A circular drive with stone pavers set the stage for the lavish travertine steps that lead to the massive 20ft iron-scrolled front doors. Custom made in Turkey, these doors open to a beautifully polished, natural limestone floor. A curved limestone staircase was made to float above this grand foyer that opens to the formal living and dining spaces. 20ft ceilings remain open in these areas and are accented with medallions, cauffered framing, and 3 huge Maria Theresa chandeliers. A floor to ceiling hand-carved Italian stone fireplace, and bay window with subtle wallpaper panels, add extra detail to the formal living room. A wet bar leads into the kitchen from the formal dining room. Homeowners spared no expense in adding a full-height quartzite backsplash that is illuminated by LED panels with a color-changing edge.
1st FLOOR
There is a mud bench where you enter from the garage, as well as a full laundry room with foot shower. The main kitchen is equipped with 48in Wolfe range, 3 ovens, 2 sinks, and 2 walk-in pantries. A trayed ceiling with hand-painted tiles sits above 2 massive islands with 3in quartzite countertops. The travertine accent wall and matching iron door help to seperate the breakfast area. Coffee-stained maple cabinetry continues into the study and keeping room, which also opens to the outdoor veranda.
A herringbone marble shower and bronze glass arches were selected to compliment the dark oak floors of the formal guest suite. The master bath has 3 marble picture frames with gold in-lays in the steam-shower and jet-tub area, and 3 stone mirrors over a 6in quartzite vanity with matching closet island. A lighter stain was selected for the master bedroom and sitting area, which is seperated by a walnut border. Crystal sconces with matching chandeleir and ceiling fan were used to highlight the tray ceiling of this large master suite; which also features a its own foyer, a stone fireplace, and a private entrace from the back yard.
2nd FLOOR
The floating staircase finishes with a custom designed marble floor medallion at the top. A loft sitting area opens up to an exterior patio, the home theater, and a catwalk that leads to additonal bedroom suites. 8in white oak planks with a specially blended stain were installed throughout the entire 2nd floor. All upstairs bedroom suites are laid out with triple sliding wood doors that open to the entire bathroom. Solid end-grain mosaic walnut doors were chosen in the boy's room to complement the walnut vanity with quartzite surround that was fabricated for the space. Beautifully stained ash doors slide open from 2 additonal bedrooms to a shared bath with double floating vanities, freestanding tub, and corner shower. Frosted glass doors were used in the last bedroom, and open up to an LED mirror, free-standing tub, and marble shower that mirrors the beatiful drapes that were hand-made for the space. All showers have 3 multi-function shower heads: a standard, a hand-held, and a rain can. Drapes were hand made for every balcony door and plantation shutters installed for privacy.
The home theater features plush carpet, reclining seating for 8 with a pit area below, with state of the projector screen and sound system. An additional wet bar and super glammed-up powder room complete this entertainment space. There is also a huge recreational room with 2 closets, upstairs laundry, and tons of attic storage.
REAR EXTERIOR
A huge wrought iron chandelier hangs from 20ft heart pine ceilings over the travertine veranda with open steps down to the beach entry of the heated pool; which also features fountains, sun shelf, hot tub, waterfall. The lush landscaping also has palm and fruit tress, as well as a privatley fenced dog area.
The lower covered patio is complete with a wood burning fireplace. An additional fully heated and cooled kitchen sits off this area as well. All the natrual light from the huge glass doors and windows make you feel like you're still part of everything outside. There is also an outdoor bathroom that leads back inside, so is tiled floor to ceiling and features a custom waterfall sink.
Douglas fir timbers were brought in from from Colorado to frame the gazebo. This heated cabana area has an outdoor grill, bar with kegerator, and lounge seating with TV and speakers.
